Drum Guided Shamanic Visualization
Come by to the upstairs Hive Room of the Yellow Door each Tuesday at 7pm for a session of visualization exercises, inspired from universal shamanic motifs.
Sessions will begin with discussions, a short group meditation, some kind of space purification ritual, and an initial guided visualization in order to warm up. Participants are invited to lead or initiate any of these elements with methods from their own traditions or intuitions if they wish.
The active visualizations will be unguided, using a hand drum as the only non verbal connection to the external environment. The challenge in these exercises is to let things come without forcing it, which is a skill that becomes easier through practice. Discussions afterwards also help to externalize the experience, and there will be a portion of each session dedicated to that as well.
If there are any questions, you can reach me (Evan) at 438-830-3585 through text message :) All are welcome!
*An important note* While these visualization techniques draw from shamanic motifs (in particular I first came across this sort of exercise in contemporary Pagan communities), it is important to distinguish that I am NOT a Shaman (which is a funny self-evident thing to say but I think it's important anyhow)
The intention with the stripped down approach practiced in these sessions is to cultivate an environment for learning and building tools for exploring our internal mental worlds, and this is done with lots of respect towards the very serious and committed Shamanic traditions around the world :)
