Welcome To Food For Thought & Rabbit Hole Café!

Food for Thought offers food assistance for students who are having trouble making ends meet, are sick of eating Kraft Dinner or who want some inexpensive and healthy dinner ideas.

  • Free non-perishable food items and vouchers are available at Food for Thought's community cupboard every Friday from 12:30 to 3:30. We also house a small resource library with resources such as recipes, guides on where to get cheap food in Montreal, nutrition info as well as links to community resources such as anti-poverty initiatives and legal information.

  • The Rabbit Hole Café is Food for Thought's vegan collective, cooking up vegan lunches every Friday, 1:00 p.m. Drop by, pay a toonie, enjoy the company and eat up our food! All proceeds go towards maintaining this program.

  • Throughout the school year, Food For Thought supports anti-poverty initiatives in the McGill community - scroll down to see how YOU can get involved!

For more information on receiving or offering assistance:leave a message at 845-2600 or you can email the coordinators directly at rabbitholecafe@gmail.com.

HOW TO VOLUNTEER WITH US!

We’re trying to expand our projects and resources, so there’s lots of opportunities to get involved with us! Check out the mini-volunteering activities below for ideas!

Raise Awareness

We need articulate people to help us raise awareness in the McGill community about Food For Thought| Rabbit Hole Café as a student resource. Here are the ways you can help:

  • graphic volunteers - design posters that tell students about Rabbit Hole’s awesome toonie lunches!

  • poster boys and girls - we need posters put up anywhere you hang out. The Plateau, Mile End and McGill Residences especially. Got a favorite café you study in? Got a class just before lunch on a Friday? Take our posters along for the ride.

  • resource volunteers - we need people to find us cookbooks, recipes, locations to get cheap food, interesting community connections etc to go in our Food For Thought resource library. Go online, go to the library: the info is there, we just need someone like you to grab it and go with it.

  • anti-poverty organisers - we need workshops organized on anti-poverty initiatives, issues and resources in Montreal. Speak out and raise some awareness with your fellow students: talk to us about workshop topics, and how to make a workshop happen.

Got a volunteering idea but don’t see it here? Tell us about it and we’ll try to make it happen! Contact Kelsey at rabbitholecafe@gmail.com or come by and see them between 12:30 and 4:00 every Friday afternoon.
