open stage hootenanny

THE YELLOW DOOR FRIDAY NIGHT OPEN STAGE HOOTENANNY WILL BE CLOSED
UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE IN AN EFFORT TO SLOW THE SPREAD OF THE COVID-19 VIRUS

Join us on Friday nights (3625 rue Aylmer) for some of the country’s best emerging talent and established artists. We have a live music and spoken word "Hootenanny" Open Stage which includes a half-hour set by a Featured Performer in the middle of the evening.
DOORS OPEN AT 8 PM - SHOW STARTS AT 8:30 PM.
If you are interested in performing on a Friday night as an Open Stage performer, just show up and put your name in the hat between 8 and 8:30 pm (names will then be drawn to determine the order of performance). Open Stage performers are allowed one or two songs each (or spoken word performances) over the course of the evening, depending on how many people sign up that night.

The Featured Performers are booked in advance, generally from among the Open Stage participants If you are interested in being a Featured Performer, the best way to do so is to perform at a few of the Open Stages, and then speak to the Coffeehouse Coordinator, Marc Nerenberg. If you are from out of town, and unable to attend the Open Stages, please contact Marc at marcnerenberg@hotmail.com.

Now in its 54th year, the Yellow Door Coffeehouse has long been one of Montreal's favourite acoustic music venues. The coffeehouse is an alcohol-free alternative to the bar scene.

All ages are welcome.

For more information, visit the YD Coffeehouse Group page on Facebook.

If you are interested in VOLUNTEERING at the Coffeehouse, please show up on a Friday night and introduce yourself to Marc, the lead volunteer. He will be able to show you the ropes and discuss your possible commitment to the event.

We acknowledge that The Yellow Door is situated on unceded Indigenous land, as it was taken without treaty or agreement. We recognize the Kanien’keha:ka Nation as the custodians of Tiohtia:ke (Montreal), a traditional meeting place with other Iroquoians and Algonquians, including the Algonquin-Anishinaabe, Atikamekw and the Huron-Wendat. We stand in solidarity and in action in supporting the journey towards reconciliation.
