Thanks for considering to become part of the YD Volunteer team! The process to sign up is fairly straightforward:

(1) review the list of CURRENT VOLUNTEER NEEDS in the chart below - these are the positions we need filled & hopefully one of them is of interest to you;

(2) complete the VOLUNTEER APPLICATION linked below the chart;

​(3) wait to receive an EMAIL from our team with next steps.

STEP 1: REVIEW OUR CURRENT VOLUNTEER NEEDS

​Generations: 
Friendly Visits
Minimum 4 months commitment; flexible schedule; 1.5-2.5 hours per week.
Various locations in downtown Montreal
Coordinate weekly meetings with your senior match for casual activities like chatting over coffee, playing games, or going for walks.
Empathetic, open-minded, reliable and self-organized; conversational French, an asset.
Generations:
Friendly Errands

Minimum 4 months commitment, flexible schedule, 1.5-2.5 hours per week.
 
Various locations in downtown Montreal
Support your senior match with their weekly shopping. 
Attention to detail, patient, reliable and self-organised. French skills an asset.​
Generations: 
Accompaniments
Minimum 4 months commitment, flexible schedule, 1.5 hours per week
Various locations in downtown Montreal
Accompany a senior from their home to their appointment(s), providing physical and emotional support. No car needed!
Patient, friendly and reliable. French skills an asset. Weekday availability.
Wellness Groups:
Film Group
Minimum 4 months commitment, biweekly on Thursday from 3-5:30pm.
Galeries du Parc (3590 rue Jeanne-Mance).
Select films, set up the space and projector, welcome participants, watch the movie, and lead a short discussion in collaboration with other volunteers.
Basic film knowledge, ability to lead a discussion, friendly and welcoming attitude.
Wellness Groups:
​Tech Cafe
Minimum 4 months commitment; every other Thursday from 3-5pm.
Galeries du Parc (3590 rue Jeanne-Mance).
 
Offer one-on-one basic tech help to seniors.
Basic tech knowledge, patience, teaching skills, friendliness, ability to explain in a simple, accessible way.
Photographer
On-call basis as needed.
Various locations in downtown Montreal.
Take photos at our events and edit if needed to be sent to the YD team for use on social media, our website, promo material, and more. Your work will always be credited!
Knowledge, passion, and skill for photography. Ability to work collaboratively with the YD team to create photos that align with our mission and brand. Must own a camera.
Translator
On-call basis as needed.
Remote- volunteer from home!
Translate documents on a call out basis and send documents back to YD.
Must be perfectly bilingual written (FR and ENG), be able to work quickly, and have great attention to detail to catch typos and correct punctuation and formatting.
BOARD MEMBER
2 year term (starting June 11, 2025); attend regular meetings, answer emails, & participate on board committees
Remote, some in-person (downtown Montreal)

​STEP 3: WAIT FOR AN EMAIL

Once we receive your completed application, we will email you with an invitation to an online 30-min group orientation. Please note the next orientation will be held May 17th - there will not be an orientation in June.

At the meeting you will learn more details about the YD programs, be able to ask any questions about the various volunteer roles, and receive information on next steps. Training is provided for all volunteer roles and we aim to support our volunteers throughout their time with us.

The YD admin office is open Tuesday - Thursday (9:30am - 5pm) & Friday (9:30am - 3pm) - VISITORS ARE WELCOME! If you are looking to meet with a specific staff member it is recommended to call and make an appointment prior to visiting.
