Thanks for considering becoming part of the YD Volunteer team! We would not be able to run our programs without our dedicated team of volunteers. The process to sign up is straightforward:

Step 1: Review Our Current Volunteer Needs

VOLUNTEER ROLE	COMMITMENT & SCHEDULE	LOCATION	WHAT WILL YOU DO?	SKILLS NEEDED
GENERATIONS: FRIENDLY VISITS	Minimum 4 months commitment; flexible schedule; 1.5-2.5 hours per week	Various locations in and around downtown Montreal	Coordinate weekly meetings with your senior match for casual activities like chatting over coffee, playing games, or going for walks.	Empathetic, open- minded, reliable and organized. Conversational French an asset.
GENERATIONS: FRIENDLY CALLS	Minimum 4 months commitment; flexible schedule; 1.5-2.5 hours per week	Remote	Chat weekly with a few seniors to check in and have meaningful conversations, and report to the coordinator weekly via a call log.	Friendly, reliable, and an active listener. If you do not have access to a phone, you can complete calls at the YD office.
GENERATIONS: FRIENDLY ERRANDS	Minimum 4 months commitment; flexible schedule; 1.5-2.5 hours per week.	Various locations in and around downtown Montreal	Support your senior match with their weekly shopping.	Attention to detail, patient, reliable, and organized. French skills an asset.
GENERATIONS: ACCOMPA-NIMENTS	Minimum 4 months commitment; flexible schedule; 1.5-2.5 hours per week	Various locations in and around downtown Montreal	Accompany a senior from their home to their appointment(s), providing physical and emotional support. No car needed!	Patient, friendly and reliable. French skills an asset. Weekday availability.
GENERATIONS: TECH HELP	Minimum 4 months commitment, flexible schedule, 1.5-2.5 hours per week	Various locations in and around downtown Montreal	Support your senior match with computer and Internet questions, helping build confidence and independence with technology.	Teaching skills, patience, confidence with technology.
WELLNESS GROUPS: FILM GROUP	Minimum 4 months commitment, biweekly on Thursday from 3-5:30pm.	Galeries du Parc (3590 rue Jeanne-Mance)	Select films, set up the space and projector, welcome participants, watch the movie, and lead a short discussion in collaboration with other volunteers.	Basic film knowledge, ability to lead a discussion, friendly and welcoming attitude.
WELLNESS GROUPS: FRENCH LITERATURE	Minimum 4 months commitment, biweekly on Fridays from 11-12:00pm.	Galeries du Parc (3590 rue Jeanne-Mance)	Assist the lead volunteer in creating a warm and welcoming environment for participants, leading and participating in discussions about short texts read during the session.	A friendly and welcoming attitude, proficiency in French, and knowledge of literature and/or social justice topics are assets.
RABBIT HOLE: GROCERY SHOPPER	Minimum 4 months commitment, flexible schedule,1.5-2.5 hours per week.	YD Office (3625 rue Aylmer)	Plan, prepare, and cook a healthy vegan meal and serve it to the community every Friday.	Knowledge and interest in cooking. Comfortable working in a small team, friendly, ability to socialize with customers. Food safety training an asset.
ADMIN: PHOTO- GRAPHER	This role is on a callout basis. YD team will contact you when needed.	Various locations in and around downtown Montreal	Take photos at our events, edit photos if needed, and send photos to YD team to be used on our social media, website, promotional material, etc. Your work will always be credited!	Knowledge of and passion for photography. Ability to work with the YD team to create photos that align with our brand and mission. Must own a camera.

At the beginning of each month, we invite all applicants to a 30-min online group orientation. At the orientation you can learn more about our programs, ask any questions about volunteer roles, and receive information on next steps.
