INTERGENERATIONAL WELLNESS GROUP
GARDEN
There is a green oasis at the back of The Yellow Door building, where community members, volunteers and the public can gather to appreciate and learn about nature in downtown Montreal. Started in 2014 as an urban agriculture project, the YD Garden grows fruits, vegetables, herbs and flowers to encourage sustainable and healthy living. The produce contributes to YD initiatives like The Rabbit Hole Café and fundraising events. In the past, we have made teas, provided fruits and vegetables for The Rabbit Hole Café’s delicious recipes and hosted garden parties and other activities. By bringing together the urban Montreal community in a place of nature and greenery, the garden furthers the mandate of The Yellow Door to reduce urban isolation and plants the seed for creative and positive social change.

We acknowledge that The Yellow Door is situated on unceded Indigenous land, as it was taken without treaty or agreement. We recognize the Kanien’keha:ka Nation as the custodians of Tiohtia:ke (Montreal), a traditional meeting place with other Iroquoians and Algonquians, including the Algonquin-Anishinaabe, Atikamekw and the Huron-Wendat. We stand in solidarity and in action in supporting the journey towards reconciliation.
