INTERGENERATIONAL WELLNESS GROUP
DRUM CIRCLE
Picture
Drum circle will begin with a warm-up that includes a discussion of the practice, a short group meditation, a space purification ritual, and an initial guided visualization. Participants are invited to lead or initiate any of these elements with methods from their own traditions or intuitions. Your active visualizations will be unguided, using a hand drum as the only non-verbal connection to the external environment. The challenge in these exercises is to let things come without forcing it, which is a skill that becomes easier through practice. Following the visualization, there will be a short discussion which also helps participants to externalize the experience.

We acknowledge that The Yellow Door is situated on unceded Indigenous land, as it was taken without treaty or agreement. We recognize the Kanien’keha:ka Nation as the custodians of Tiohtia:ke (Montreal), a traditional meeting place with other Iroquoians and Algonquians, including the Algonquin-Anishinaabe, Atikamekw and the Huron-Wendat. We stand in solidarity and in action in supporting the journey towards reconciliation.
